This is a digital video recorder designed for use in medical applications. Coax, SVGA and Ethernet ports are present on the rear panel.

According to Zeiss:

All the surgeon has to do is press a button to save images from video sequences, select them and burn them directly on CD-R. There is no need for any additional software or hardware as always required for a digital camera.

Image quality has been specially optimized for the applications involved, with a clear focus on depth of field and color fidelity. The images are saved in TIFF or JPEG format.

The archive media, a commercial multisession CD-R, is inexpensive, and ensures that the images obtained can be viewed on any PC or laptop immediately after the surgical procedure.
